民以食为天。以礼仪之邦的中国和盛产绅士的英国为例，饮食文化虽各具特色，但又大同小异，这些“繁文缛节” 并非是对人们吃的情趣的束缚，而是表现人们的道德文化修养，在饮食生活中体现一种形式美、伦理美和人情美。我们特邀请英国绅士Alex和中国帅哥Freedom，来个饮食文化中外谈。
1,Smoking at the dinner table?
Alex：You must be insane! one can smoke in certain establishments only after all one’s guests have finished eating and one’s host has invited the gentleman to enjoy a smoke with their brandy.
Freedom：实际上，席间吸烟是不礼貌的，但只要在场的女士们默许了，就没有问题了。谁让买单的多是男同胞呢！
2,The order of the coursese?
Alex：The general order of the course is aperitif（开胃酒）, starter（第一道菜，通常是汤、果汁或鱼）, main dish, a selection of cheeses and a glass of port（红葡萄酒）, then coffee with a vintage cognac（上等法国白兰地）. it is polite in English society to have one courses served one at a time with a break in between to fully appreciate one’s food.
Freedom:在中国广东地区，通常饭前先喝汤或者功夫茶，然后是正菜，先冷后热；饭后吃点甜点和水果；另外，上菜的顺序也是比较讲究的，热菜应从主宾对面席位的左侧上；上全鸡、全鸭、全鱼等整形菜，不能把头尾朝向正主位；斟酒由宾客右侧进行，先主宾，后主人；先女宾，后男宾。
3,The matter of the toast?
Alex: It is polite to propose toasts to one’s host and guests but it would be unforgivable to not propose the first toast to the Queen; Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Freedom:首先是主人致辞了；常用的祝辞语是“感情深，一口闷；感情浅，舔一舔”，所以，第一杯酒务必要先干为敬。
